Being a Catenian

WHY WE STAY IN THE CATENIANS

WHY WE STAY IN THE CATENIANS

Circle Meetings

North Warwickshire Circle meets on the 2nd Monday of each month, at The Forest Hotel, Dorridge, Solihull (directly opposite Dorridge Railway Station – so you can both attend and drink !) from 7.30pm.  We have a 30-40 minute meeting with a few prayers and (generally light-hearted) business followed by a 3 course hot meal; after dinner there is often some light entertainment or a talk by a guest speaker.

The meeting adheres to a structure, but proceedings are good-humoured and friendly banter is always welcome!  A major part of the evening is socialising with fellow members & visiting Catenian brothers from other Circles.  Usually, four after-meeting meals each year include our Ladies. Evenings are planned to end between 10:15 & 11 pm so those of us who work can get up in the morning…!

Circle Activities – Spiritual

Prayers are an important part of the monthly meeting agenda.  We also have a President’s Annual Mass, an Annual Circle Mass for Deceased Brothers of our Circle, an Annual Provincial Mass for Deceased Brothers in our Province, plus occasional Masses for the repose of the soul of a deceased brother or the wife or widow of a brother.  Retreats are also organised from time to time.

We try to combine Spiritual Events (when appropriate) with Social Gatherings, so for example, there is a “Bring and Share” Supper each year after our Circle Mass for Deceased Brothers in October, and usually an informal lunch or dinner after The Circle President’s Mass in the Summer.

Circle Activities – Social

  • Dining after Circle Meetings, often with entertainment after (4 times a year with our Ladies)

  • Annual President’s Mass with family lunch or dinner

  • Social activities: walks, barbecues, theatre trips, golf  days, skittles bowling competition, treasure hunt etc – open to families and friends

  • Christmas dinner and concert with our Ladies

  • Annual Music Night featuring musical entertainment with our Ladies

  • Annual Clergy Night dinner where we entertain and thank our Clergy

  • Annual Circle Mass for Deceased Brothers followed by a “bring and share” dinner with our Ladies

  • Annual Ladies Day Out (organised by the President for our Ladies Only!)
